Jack Campbell is the Chief Creative Officer of Whirlwind Media Services, which offers its clients a blend of world-class web hosting and design, social-media marketing, search engine optimization and media-rich content, as well as traditional marketing plans and tools ― all designed to deliver its client’s messages with award-winning imagination. He recently shared the following thoughts with Entrepreneur Exchange:
How does someone know if they have what it takes to own their own business? Tell us a bit about how you made the decision and why.
In my case I didn’t know if I had what it takes to be successful. In fact, quite a few people told me I didn’t have what it takes and discouraged me from leaving my good-paying sales job. I think that motivated me as much as anything to prove to myself and them that I could do it.
What is the single strongest piece of advice you would have for someone just starting out in business for themselves?
You’re only as strong as your weakest link. Surround yourself with good people. If your team is top notch, you’ll be a winner.
What marketing strategies have you found to be most successful in growing your business?
Present yourself and your business as if you were already where you want to be someday. Another way of saying it is perception is reality … if customers perceive you as being successful, you will be.
What is/are your favorite motto and/or quote when it comes to business? Any final words of encouragement and/or inspiration for the budding entrepreneur?
When it comes to being successful in business it’s not you against the competition, It’s You Against You! Keep motivated, keep on top of your game, keep focused on your goals and YOU will be the winner.
