If you’re looking for just the right affordable business opportunity that capitalizes on the rapidly growing mobile phone applications industry, you’ve found it. Launched just this year, MyCityApp.com is the next big thing in ensuring local business owners have a quick and targeted means of reaching their customers via the fastest growing and most convenient marketing platform in the world today…cell phones.
MyCityApp.com’s owner, Brad Meador, recently chatted with BusinessOpportunity.com’s Entrepreneur Exchange about business ownership and what he has learned as a successful entrepreneur that has been most valuable:
How does someone know if they have what it takes to own their own business? Tell us a bit about how you made the decision and why.
I’ve been running my own businesses since I was about 12 years old. I think some people are just born with that desire to work for themselves. Now, my goal is to provide a platform for others to use so that they can also run their own successful business. That’s what MyCityApp.com is all about.
What was the biggest challenge you faced in your first six months in business? How did you meet that challenge?
No matter how good the product or service is that you provide if no one knows about it, you’re not going to succeed. Finding the people that are looking for a business opportunity is always a challenge. I’m always looking for new places and techniques to find new customers.
What is it about the business/industry you are in that made it so attractive to you?
Every day, more and more people are using their smartphones to search for local information. I wanted to provide an easy place for them to find information, while making a great and inexpensive business opportunity as well.
After the initial start-up phase in business, what obstacles do business owners face as they try to grow their business and remain successful? Any advice for how to overcome those obstacles?
Attracting business is one issue. Keeping business is another. You must supply great customer service and ongoing support to be successful.
What did you do before you decided to become your own boss, and how have those skills helped you in your current business?
I am a stockbroker by trade, but I never felt the satisfaction doing that that I do running my own business. I did have to continually contact clients and mine for new prospects. I still do that today with my own business.
What process do you follow to successfully close on a lead and make the final sale? Any tips?
I don’t like to be pushy, but sometimes prospects just need to be reminded. I send short, non-threatening emails to remind the prospect about the opportunity and offer to answer any questions that might be holding them back.
What is/are your favorite motto and/or quote when it comes to business? Any final words of encouragement and/or inspiration for the budding entrepreneur?
Thank you! Do what you love, and LOVE what you do.
