If you’ve been one of the unfortunate people that signed up for a home-based business opportunity, distributorship, licensee opportunity or even a small franchise only to NOT see the success you were sold on, I feel for you; however, you’re not alone. I have some tips for you to possibly revive that warm and cozy feeling you once had.
When you were originally sold by your sponsor, mentor, up-line, down-line or whatever they called themselves when you first met you were told that they earned fantastic income from said opportunity within their so-called, “Circle of Influence”. In most cases, I’m here to tell you that this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Maybe you even attended a training event or participated in a teleconference call and you heard how good the products were and that they ‘sell themselves.. all you need to do is buy and buy now!’ Not so fast as reality dictates that almost nothing “sells itself”. Maybe an inspirational speaker told you that all you needed to do is to duplicate, duplicate, duplicate, meaning follow on what everyone else does to be a success. That if done correctly, eventually, you too would be financially independent and have the choice to be in control of your life if only you bought and bought now. That if you bought and bought now that you could be the driver of your own destiny. As you are the driver my friends. You just need a road map to get to your destination and not a bunch of hype.
My advice would be to regain that cozy feeling by realizing that if you have to sell your new product or service to your friends and family that is a the first sign to not buy into said program. Ask yourself a basic question that maybe due to the hype you heard you possibly have overlooked. How many friends and how many family members will actually have a need or even benefit from what you are selling them? Further, how many of them will be repeat buyers of said products or service and if so, will they be happy customers or just trying to help you out? In most cases, they don’t need more multivitamins to boost their health. In the end, you will exhaust this “Circle of Influence” really quickly and might even exhaust a friendship or two. Even worse you might alienate a family member and nobody wants to do that. Why should anyone have to beg those you love and care about to buy your products or service?
My next tip is to look past the top earners and look for signs of success with ordinary distributors or sellers of said product or service.
Last, you need to understand that you’ll need to establish methods to advertise your new venture that is not only affordable but also effective outside the so-called, “Circle of Influence” to see true growth that will last past the flash in the pan.
The next time you are told that all you need to do is sell to your “Circle of Influence” and you’ll be in the drivers seat think twice and do your homework before buying. Make sure you have the means to sell past your “Circle of Influence” if you decide to do so and to customers who will be longtime buyers to make your new venture grow.
Carpe Diem My Friends
