A report commissioned by the franchising industry’s largest trade group, the International Franchise Association (IFA), anticipates that U.S. franchise establishments will increase in 2012 by 1.9%. Additionally, the report expects that franchise businesses will boost their hiring and sell more goods and services this year than last.
Lodging, business services and personal services should see the most growth in the coming year, according to the report’s findings. More specifically, quick-service restaurants are expected to make up the majority of franchise establishments in 2012. Furthermore, they are also likely to create the greatest number of jobs (37%) out of all the franchise categories, and realize the greatest profits (26%).
