BusinessOpportunity.com’s Interview Questions

Q. How does someone know if they have what it takes to own their own business? Tell us a bit about how you made the decision and why.

A. Small business owners are a rare breed. We like to forge our own path, and don’t like others to tell us what to do, or how much money we can make! We also believe in ourselves and our ideas, more than others do. We are not afraid to take chances, and enjoy the possibility of making a huge return on our investments.

A. My decision to become self-employed and open my own business was made while I was in college. I spent several years studying about how businesses operated, but I just wasn’t that excited about working for one of them in a cubicle all day! I opened my first business while in college, and have owned several successful businesses since.

Q. What was the biggest challenge you faced in your first six months in business? How did you meet that challenge?

A. It’s almost always a combination of not having enough money/capital to expand quickly, as well as issues with marketing your business properly. I overcame these by teaching myself as much as I could about business financing, and about marketing. I read everything I could get my hands on about these subjects, as well as discussing them with other experts in my industry.

Q. What is the single strongest piece of advice you would have for someone just starting out in business for themselves?

A. Believe in yourself, go with your gut feelings, and don’t give up. Also, you’ve got to learn to ignore all the negative people in your life that will try to dissuade you from running your own business. It also helps to imagine yourself as a successful business owner, and get a mental image of where you want to be in the future. Imagine yourself successful, both financially and with your other goals in life.

Q. What marketing strategies have you found to be most successful in growing your business?

A. Advertise where your best prospects like to hang out. This will take a little bit of research, but it can be done! Once you know where they are; put an irresistible offer in front of them, and then wait for them to
contact you.

Thanks – John Ryan
